How a chat is counted
A chat is a conversation that had at least one visitor message in a given calendar month (UTC). Each conversation counts at most once per month, however many messages it contains.
A visitor who writes ten messages in one conversation in March: 1 chat.
The same conversation continues in April with new visitor messages: 1 chat in March, 1 in April.
A conversation where only your team wrote in a month (for example a follow-up): 0 chats that month.
Messages sent through the offline "leave a message" form count as a chat.
A visitor who taps Talk to a person without typing anything has still started a chat, and it counts.
Opening the widget, or opening the composer without sending, does not count.
Deleting a conversation from the inbox does not reduce the count. Usage reflects what your visitors did that month.
Usage is summed across all workspaces you own. Workspaces where you are a member count towards their owner's plan, not yours.
Why Analytics and Billing can show different numbers
Analytics counts conversations over a rolling window (the last 30 days by default) and shows them per workspace. Billing counts chats per calendar month, in UTC, added up across every workspace you own. Early in a month the analytics number is naturally higher because it still includes last month's chats. Deleted conversations disappear from Analytics but stay in the usage count.
Watching your usage
The home page of each workspace shows a usage meter for the owner's plan. Account → Billing breaks it down per workspace. You receive an email at 80% and at 100% of your monthly limit.
What happens at the limit
Nothing is lost and nothing stops working for your team.
The AI agent pauses on new visitor messages.
The widget switches to a "leave a message" form for new conversations so you still capture the lead.
Your team can keep replying to every conversation from the inbox.
Everything resumes automatically on the first day of the next month, or immediately when you upgrade.
Upgrade, downgrade, cancel
Open Account → Billing and choose a plan. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments; you can pay by card. When you upgrade, the new limit applies immediately and the charge is prorated.
To downgrade or cancel, click Cancel on your current plan. You keep the paid features until the end of the billing period, then move to Free. If a workspace then has more members than Free allows, existing members stay but you cannot invite new ones until you are back under the limit.
Manage payment method and Invoices open the customer portal, where you can update your card and download receipts.
Refunds
Contact us within 14 days of a charge if Svellyo did not work out. We refund the most recent payment.
